Inter-Island Ferry Service

Reduced ferry sailings and limited recovery capacity during weather or unplanned outages means pressure on the Cook Strait network is high. This impacts the entire New Zealand transport industry - affecting any freight relying on road and ferry connections between the North and South Islands.

This may directly impact CapLink, Dangerous Goods and 2-Day Road customers.

Customers with time-sensitive, urgent, or perishable items are encouraged to consider utilise NZC standard next-day delivery, meaning your items travel via our air network (Dangerous Goods cannot travel by air, so please allow a time-buffer where possible).

UPDATE 2.00pm Tuesday 2nd June -  Awakino Gorge Reopens

Awakino Gorge is scheduled to reopen at 2.00pm today.

UPDATE 1pm Tuesday 2nd June - Taranaki Service Delays (State Highway 3 Awakino Gorge)

State Highway 3 connecting Hamilton and New Plymouth (between Mōkau and Piopio) is currently closed due to ongoing rainfall and danger of slips.

This will cause delays to services into and out of New Plymouth and the wider Taranaki region.

For updates on individual courier items, please click here for track and trace.

Please plan ahead for any time-sensitive or perishable freight travelling into or out of the Taranaki region, as delays are expected.

Monday 1st June - Severe Weather Warnings

Significant heavy rain for northern and western parts of both the North and South Islands, and possible severe gales for parts of the North Island

A trough embedded in a humid northerly flow is bringing heavy rain to northern and western parts of the South Island, and is expected to spread to areas of the North Island today. Additionally, northeast winds may approach severe gale about parts of the North Island from this afternoon.

Please keep up to date here with MetService updates, as this is likely to be a significant weather event affecting large parts of the country.

An email scam is currently circulating that attempts to get receivers to enter their credit card details (and possibly also access banking apps).

This email is not legitimate and is not associated with New Zealand Couriers. Do not reply to the email, click any links, or provide any credit card or personal information.

We recommend recipients report the email as 'junk or 'phishing' (in Outlook/Gmail), block the sender and delete the message.

If you have shared information regarding your credit card or bank details - we suggest you contact your banking provider immediately.

Friday 6th March - Lower Hutt Depot remains closed for customer pick-up; drop-offs; cash sales

The storms in February resulted in considerable damage to our Lower Hutt premises. The reception area remains closed and will not be opened until all roofing iron is safely in place - this is still likely to be a few weeks away.

Our couriers are able to operate safely out of the depot area - courier pick-ups and deliveries resumed on 20 February.

If you do not have an account, but need to send an item (that a courier can pick-up from you)... please use our Send a Parcel service.

Monday 19th Jan - Slight delays into and out of Gisborne Region / Large slips in the Waioweka Gorge (SH2)

Large slips in the Waioweka Gorge (north of Gisborne) mean that inbound and outbound linehaul runs will need to be diverted (this may result in slight delays for courier items which would usually be moved via SH2 north of Gisborne).

It appears that it will be a number of weeks before this route is accessible.
