Expecting parcels during the busy shopping season? A little planning can help you avoid missed deliveries and receive your purchases in time for Christmas.
- Order early and check delivery timeframes - Allow time for the retailer to process and dispatch your order, as well as for delivery. Check their Christmas order deadlines before buying, particularly for rural deliveries or items coming from overseas.
- Check your delivery details - Before completing your order, check your delivery address, including any unit number, business name and postcode. Provide accurate contact details so the sender can keep you informed about your order.
- Choose an address where you can receive parcels - If you’ll be away over the holidays, choose a suitable delivery address when ordering. Workplace delivery can be useful where your employer allows it, but check that the business will be open when your parcel is expected.
- Arrange a safe place for deliveries - If you have a suitable place for parcels to be left, consider setting up Leave My Delivery. Choose somewhere dry, secure, out of sight from the street and easily accessible to your courier. Keep access clear of locked gates, dogs and other obstructions. Delivery tags are free and can take up to 14 days to arrange and install, so apply ahead of the busy period. They apply to ongoing deliveries to your address, rather than a single parcel.
- Act promptly if you miss a delivery - If you receive a missed delivery card, follow the instructions on it or visit our Organise a redelivery page to check your options. You may be able to arrange redelivery, delivery to another address or collection from our branch. Check holiday opening hours before travelling to collect your parcel.
